I will and do not Recommend Home Depot Design Department or KraftMaid Cabinets. I want to apologize to my client that works for the Red Cross for:

Giving you my OK to by the Cabinets from Home Depot and KraftMaid.

You Spent a lot of money for low quality cabinets, I wish I could take pictures of your cabinets and post them on my website but I Cant; After the Rep From KraftMaid came out and took pictures - he said that the side panels never match with the face of the cabinets and that the new cabinets that I got 4 weeks later will look the same - He Was Wrong - They are worse.

4 out of 5 cabinets for this Project was unacceptable to me, home owner, and the KraftMaid Rep.

I Feel the Rep did his job, but Home Depot and KraftMaid don't care.

There is "rough sand like" texture in the finish, wood is dented, corners is splinted, wood was cracked, finish is two toned really bad. One door has a stain in the wood that looks like a soda can sat on bare wood.

Buyer Beware.

There is No Quality Control there anymore.

P.S. Are they Made in China Now??

Hint: Take some pride in your work KraftMaid.

Wow!! I had a kitchen remodel with Kraftmaid cabinets about 12 years ago and was totally satisfied!

The kitchen designer was great and so were the quality of the cabinets.

I am now in another home and WAS thinking about buying Kraftmaid cabinet's again but not now!! Glad I found this site to let me know Kraftmaid is no longer what they once were!

Bought a whole kitchen remodel for $25,000 from Home Depot. Solid maple with a Cream paint finish.

Kraftmaid quality was completely absent. Dings in most of the doors. Unpainted bottoms on the upper cabinets and paint so thin on the molding you could see the wood grain. Kraftmaid rep replaced doors but 70% of those also had dings.

The solution for the unpainted areas was to send me a can of spray paint for me to do it!!! Beware...Beware

:sigh

I have to agree with Indy Dealer that you do get better attention to detail at a small speciality dealership where they focus more on your individual project. These smaller outfits need to be more specific because they don't deal with volume of sales but more with the quality of services.

They also deal up front with what kind of expectations the individual has, and the limitations that go along with wood products and there manufacturers.

Unfortunately Kraftmaid decided years ago when they first offered their cabinetry through large home centers that the individual customer wasn't really that important to their bottom line and thus changed the meaning of QC from quality control to quantity control. As for the smaller dealers that KM sold out I have great admiration for their pride and dedication to the individual customers that they rely upon for their business.

I notice that the "pissed" people bought from a home center. If you had bought from an experienced independent, I guarantee you wouldn't be upset. The quality of experience and service just isn't there to prevent unpleasant surprises with any cabinet manufacturer.

yesterday i got shipment from kraftmaid( i purchase through homedepot) today i openned one box and i am shocked that only the door is cherry wood that we ordered.. and homedepot never mentioned anything about it, if i know they are not hardwood construction, i will never never bought it.. any recommendation that i could do now?

I also got Kraftmaid cabinets at Home Depot and had one cabinet with a big hole in the center and several with various levels of flaws from annoying to I can't live with this in my house. Kraftmaid also referred me back to Home Depot who tried to help me, but Kraftmaid wouldn't do anything for them either.

I finally, after an additional 8 weeks, got two of the cabinet frames replaced and two doors replaced. These were only the worst of the flaws. I still have to deal with some of them. I only got this because the Home Depot forgot to make us sign some kind of relase form stating that we understood what we could expect from Kraftmaid.

Very disappointed in the quality of the cabinets and the whole experience, really. Wouldn't recommend these to anyone.

Dear cabinet lady FYI- on all plywood cabinets the sides are not glazed only the door and frame go through that process. When you add a glaze over any finish it tends to tone that finish either darker or lighter depending on what color glaze is used.

This toning effect can at times be very noticeable and that is why most designers even at home depot recommend putting a door panel on these exposed sides. Maybe you could call Kraftmaid and verify this fact before making any assumptions that you're better informed than the designers at home depot.

PS plywood sides are wood veneer and not made of solid wood as you suggest what you are referring to is particle board laminated with a vinyl or melamine finish which I have or never will sell to a customer. Who's inexperienced????????

KraftMaid cabinetry is made in the USA. Also the ends match better when you order plywood construction.

They should have explained that veneer finishes different than solid wood. No one would pay for solid wood cabinets I wouldn't expect any one from the DEPOT to know this. Most of them have no field experience. This is crucial to know these things!

I've been designing and selling KraftMaid for 16 years and have made everyone of my customers happy. Sometimes things have to be touched up or repaired and even replaced that's the nature of the industry. It's wood not bulletproof glass. We don't alarm the customer we just take care of it.

That's why it is always better to work with a individual dealer and NOT a home store. Anyone can get a job there!

Maybe it's time to have bumper stickers made up "Kraftmaid@***r" so that the consumer can be better informed about this product before buying it. Kind of an anti-marketing campaign to to put their marketing into a better perspective.

Just wondering, had you read all the complaints on this site before-hand, would you still have ordered this product? A little foresight goes a long way but not as far as hindsight which sometimes seems to last forever.
