KraftMaid Cabinetry complaint
i have purchased a set of cabinets from kraftmaid in february of this year. i am very disgusted with the quality of them.i paid over 7000 dollars and wish i would have gone to goodwill or a second hand store to get mine.the doors are ok but the cabinets themselves are already falling apart. i have had better desks from k mart. when i screw the cabinets in the wall the carcass falls apart and i had to basically re gluehalf the joints. the upper cabinets werent square to begin with.the material is something i wouldn't give a dime for. i know from my experience i wouldn't recommend kraftmaid to even my worst enemy. i am not trying to be rude, just honest.hope someone will read this and think twice before ordering kraftmaid cabinets. i always say you get what you pay for and for 7 g's,i expected more. i will be replacing my whole kitchen and bathrooms asap. and it will not be kraftmaid.

Kraftmaid has recently been pushing QUALITY in their plants in Ohio (after they got slapped for laying off hundreds of employees with no warning, oh wait, they RETROACTIVELY FIRED those employees to avoid prosecution), but the management has been pushing SPEED as well.

You know the rule. Good, fast, cheap, pick two. Well, Kraftmaid wants all three out of the few employees remaining, so they jacked up the price of their cabinets and pushed harder for quality. You still get both barrels for other people's screwups (which typically happen because WORK FASTER was ordered).

I don't know anybody who works at Kraftmaid who would (or could afford to) buy the cabinets they make.

I sell Kraftmaid cabinetry and i totally agree with "Suprised". They are great cabinets. I'm guessing by the language and incorrect terminology that the person complaining is not experienced with installing cabinets. that is probably the first problem if the "carcus" is falling off the wall!!!

And "JK", you can purchase wood skins to apply to the sides of your cabinets to cover the laminate side. Your designer probably should have mentioned this to you, but it is an easy fix if you desire to do so.

:grin I bought an entire kitchen full of Natural Hickory cabinets about 5 years ago. They still look brand new. The only thing I wish was different would be the sides, the laminate match. Other than that, the drawers are sturdy .The tongue and groove craftsmanship is outstanding. The beveled glass door inserts are great and the finish is lasting. A Great value!

In all my years as a kitchen designer, I have never seen a Kraftmaid cabinet like that. And you should not do any thing yourself to any defected cabinets, should have Kraftmaid replace them before touch them.
